Mountains

While choosing symbols for the logo for the website, I wanted something that really represented Kingdom. To me, “Thy Kingdom come” from The Lord’s Prayer (Matthew 6:9) was a moment far, far way in time when Jesus returns. It still is in a way, but there is also another view of Kingdom that has really opened my eyes. It is about living in the same intimacy and connection with God that the original man and woman had in the Garden of Eden with the roles that God designed for us.
(Kingdom:) living in the same intimacy and connection with God….
that God designed (just) for us…
I wanted the mountains in the logo for several reasons. First, in The Bible, Moses went up in the mountains to speak to God, not just once, but twice. Later, the temple was built on Mount Zion. The mountains (in the Bible and in our faith walk) are the symbol or source of connection to God. Jesus preached really powerful sermons on mountains. The use of mountains as imagery in the Bible is really powerful. We can visualize mountains easily, although they may vary depending on geographical location and imagination. So mountains are something tangible that most of us can relate to. That being said, the mountains in The Bible are often used to describe God’s power and connection with us. They are used to describe obstacles.

For me, mountains are one of the wonderful ways that I connect with God and nature. I feel closer to God in the mountains. I also remember that if we have the faith of a mustard seed we can expect to move mountains…. I am expecting mountains to be moved!!!!
What do mountains represent to you???
Food for thoughts: If you were to choose a symbol representing your faith walk- what would it be and why? How many symbols would you want to tell the story of you in something as simplistic as a logo??

My logo would have to be a heart….for the love God has shown me from Him and for others. It’s been a journey of love, through the good and the bad!
