I think the sun is bursting forth to reveal answers
Food for thought:
Reflection and goal setting
One of my best friends and I would ask these questions (see below), typically around birthdays or special dates. I found them to be daydreams at first before I really understood the work I could do within these questions. A goal without an action plan is often viewed as a dream. What takes a dream into a goal is intentionality, action and execution. In the past, I’m great at the first and not as great and putting forth the effort. That’s changed as I can make choices that cause change everyday. I can get up and walk, write for the day, study for a test, show up to work ready for action, and present myself as a leader. It is harder to be a leader when I’m not showing up for myself.
So, to get the conversation started…. as you dive into your time with God today- have a conversation with time for listening for answers on:
- Where were you 5 years ago??
- Where do you want to be 5 years from now?
- What are the steps you’re taking to get there?
If you want to take the challenge to the next level…. Write down your goals and action plan and print it out. Place it where you can see it everyday. The visual reminder of what we are working for helps us to align our daily actions with our goals!

5 years: my goals
I see myself as a leader and Financial Advisor at my current firm- helping clients set goals and execute those actions. Action: studying for my Series 7, Series 66 and eMoney class to complete by August 2024.
I plan to have 2 books completed and published and one draft ready for editing. Write 20 minutes a daily setting my intention each day of what I’m working on. Once I’ve finished my securities licenses, use blocked time on my free weekends for intentional writing. Take a workshop in 2025 to work on “finished” pieces.
Examples of my actions: Maybe it’s something simple like write for 20 minutes a day. Study for 10 hours this week and specify the blocks of time you’re allocating for study. Take a daily walk to keep my body moving.
Level up to 10 years and 20 years.
Where are you with your goal setting and action plans?
